Kobbie Mainoo is already becoming a leader for Manchester United, which is no surprise given the players he has been learning from.
Since his breakthrough at Manchester United, Kobbie Mainoo has had the look of a future club captain.
Diogo Dalot named Mainoo as a future captain, with his new contract signed this week, securing him to the club and making this possible.
Over his three years in the first team, Mainoo has had some wonderful teammates, and he’s learned from each. But he’s only named three as ‘role models’ for him.
If Elliot Anderson is £125m… What is Kobbie Mainoo’s market value right now?
Not that he's going anywhere…🔒

Kobbie Mainoo names Tom Heaton as one of his role models at Manchester United
This week has seen Mainoo sign his new contract with United, and therefore, he’s been the focus of dialogue leading up to the clash with Liverpool.
In an interview with British GQ, Mainoo was asked who his role models are within the squad, to which he had two obvious names and one slightly less predictable.
“Yeah, for me, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Tom Heaton are all still role models in my life, and especially on the football pitch, how they carry themselves now, they approach the game.
“It’s important to always have those people who you want to learn things from, whether that’s in football or off the pitch and life.”
It’s no shock that Mainoo selected his two midfield partners. Recently, Mainoo admitted being wowed by Casemiro and Fernandes, and it’s clear he idolises them.
But Heaton is more surprising, despite his known character and impact on the dressing room. Heaton being a role model for Mainoo is interesting and good news for the club.
Should Manchester United be extending Tom Heaton’s contract?
The goalkeeper will be 40 by the end of this season…
Tom Heaton should see his contract extended by Manchester United
Heaton has been United’s third-choice goalkeeper for years now, returning for free after a successful career.
However, despite being a quality goalkeeper, Heaton is 40, and today he’s more of a dressing room figure and link to the coaching staff than a player.
But United should extend his contract again.
Heaton is worth his weight in gold for the personality he is off the pitch, keeping his teammates happy and being a leader.
Due to these qualities, United are better off having him as third choice goalkeeper than someone who doesn’t get the club.
Senne Lammens, starter, Radek Vitek, number two, and Heaton, third, is a strong department.
