Borussia Dortmund boss pins Jadon Sancho injury on Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic had delivered a subtle dig to Erik ten Hag with Jadon Sancho suffering an injury problem.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, after falling out with Jadon Sancho, decided that the Englishman would not be part of the first-team squad until he either apologised for his actions or was to be moved on in the January transfer window.

With no apology forthcoming, the Englishman was let go in January for a loan deal back to Borussia Dortmund, who United signed Sancho from in the summer of 2021 for £73 million.

Since his move back to the Bundesliga, the Englishman has been brought back into the first-team under Edin Terzic and has looked promising for the German giants.

Terzic dig at Sancho

Ahead of Dortmund’s game against Heidenheim, Terzic provided an injury update ahead of the game in the Bundesliga and seemed to deliver a subtle dig about Ten Hag due to Sancho’s injury problems.

“He has not been able to train with the team on both of the last two days because he has felt minor muscular problems in his adductor region, which is not surprising after his long break,” Terzic told the Dortmund website.

“We will not take any major risks and will decide in the coming days whether he comes with us to Heidenheim.”

This does seem like a rather thinly veiled dig at Ten Hag who decided to ostracise the English winger who last made a first-team appearance against Nottingham Forest before missing the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Sancho’s future

The Englishman will return to Old Trafford in the summer but it is unclear what the future holds for the 23-year-old, which is a similar situation to that of Getafr forward Mason Greenwood who will also return to the club in the summer.

If Ten Hag remains manager in the summer, Sancho will be sold and the club will hope to recoup a large portion of that £73m fee, Sancho’s improving form back in Germany would help that cause.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos coming into the fold and making sporting decisions, if Ten Hag loses his job due to poor performances, perhaps the winger will be given another chance to impress at Old Trafford.
