Boca Juniors want to sign Edinson Cavani in 2022

Edinson Cavani’s first goal for Manchester United at the weekend hopefully signals the start of a productive spell at Old Trafford.

Cavani signed for United on transfer deadline day on a one-year contract which has an option to be extended for a second season.

Hopefully Cavani’s second year option ends up being activated, mainly for the reason that this would suggest the first year has been a success.

When the two years are up, Cavani is unlikely to be short of offers. One club are already making preparations for him to become a free agent again.

Return to South America

Argentine giants Boca Juniors are eyeing Cavani for a future deal, report El Futbolero.

The outlet states Boca are even going as far as to draw up paperwork which could be presented as part of a package to sign the Urugayan in 2022.

Boca plan to try and sign Cavani after the 2022 World Cup. From that point, the United striker will be free to negotiate with Boca even if he has a few months left to run on the second year of his deal at Old Trafford.

Cavani will be 35 then, and potentially moving into the final stages of his career.

A return to South America may appeal, and Boca are one of the world’s most famous clubs.

There will undoubtedly be clubs in Uruguay attempting to land the striker too.

Make these two years count

If Cavani does well, he may even look into extending his stint at Old Trafford beyond 2022.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s exploits for AC Milan at the age of 39 are showing what is possible nowadays if a player looks after themselves and works hard to stay at the peak of their powers.

It’s too early to look too far into the future, as Cavani has a job to do first at Old Trafford.

The early signs are promising. His early performances for United have shown he works hard off the ball, and is lethal when he is presented with chances.

His first goal is just the start, and if he fires United to silverware over the next two seasons then nobody will begrudge him his next move.
