Benjamin Sesko added to his goal tally in Manchester United’s win over Brentford at Old Trafford.

Manchester United inched closer to Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win over Brentford on Monday night.

Bruno Fernandes added to his assist tally by setting up Benjamin Sesko for his 10th goal of the season to double United’s lead in the first half.

Gary Neville praised Sesko’s finish, and the Slovenian can take extra pride in hitting a target set by Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand.

Benjamin Sesko achieves Rio Ferdinand’s goal target

Back in August, Ferdinand set Sesko a goal target for the 2025/26 season.

“I think if he comes in and scores between 10 and 15, then I think that’s an unbelievable return,” Ferdinand said.

Sesko’s goal against Brentford was his 10th in the Premier League and 11th in all competitions.

It is already believed around Carrington that Sesko is an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund, but his goal return this season proves he has been an impactful signing.

Man Utd’s Benjamin Sesko fee set to rise

Last summer, United struck a £66 million deal for Sesko from Red Bull Leipzig.

Despite Newcastle bidding more for Sesko, the young striker pushed to move to Old Trafford and made it happen.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the full transfer package for Sesko is set to rise to €80.5m (£70m) by the end of the season.

This could be linked to appearances, goals and possible Champions League qualification. Sesko’s milestone of 10 goals may end up costing millions more, but it is a sign of his progression in Manchester.
