Benjamin Sesko admits he is ‘very unhappy’ despite first Man United goal, Rasmus Hojlund difference is clear

The only silver lining to Manchester United’s defeat to Brentford is that Benjamin Sesko scored his first goal for the club.

Ruben Amorim’s misery continued on Saturday afternoon as Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford in the capital.

Bruno Fernandes missed a crucial penalty which could have turned the game in United’s favour, but the Red Devils captain missed his second spot kick of the season.

The only silver lining to an otherwise miserable performance was that £66m summer signing Benjamin Sesko scored his first goal in a United shirt.

The Slovenian refused to celebrate his goal that halved Brentford’s deficit, and his reaction post-match is a good insight into his character.

Benjamin Sesko sends message after Brentford defeat

Saturday afternoon was the first time that United’s new front three of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all started together.

While there were glimpses of promise, it was overshadowed by a shaky defensive performance.

Sesko took to Instagram after the match to send a message to the fanbase.

“My first Premier League goal, but I’d swap it straight away for 3 points. Very unhappy with yesterday’s result, but no doubt we’ll bounce back. We are Manchester United.”

Benjamin Sesko’s elite mentality outshines Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund wanted to stay at United over the summer and compete with Sesko for a starting spot, but he was frozen out by Amorim and eventually left on loan to Napoli.

While Hojlund scored for Napoli on his debut, Amorim seems more than happy with his decision.

In many ways, Sesko is an upgrade on Hojlund and the Slovenian showed in the last 24 hours that he also has a superior mentality.

Towards the end of last season, Rasmus Hojlund said he “needed” to score against Bournemouth after going on a barren run without any goals.

Unlike Hojlund, Sesko’s full focus is on getting three points for United, and that is the exact kind of mentality that Amorim wants and needs in his dressing room.
