Ben Foster namechecked both Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes amid the major task that Ineos must pull off for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Ineos impressed last summer after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime brought Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Senne Lammens and Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford.
However, the revamp of the Manchester United first-team squad is expected to progress forward under Ineos this summer ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Casemiro will leave the Premier League club in the summer once the 34-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder’s current contract with United expires in June.

Ben Foster on Man Utd target to replace Casemiro and why Bruno Fernandes should be a factor for one signing
Casemiro’s summer departure from Manchester United was announced back in January, with the focus now on Ineos’ plans for the midfield rebuild at the club.
United could also lose Manuel Ugarte in the summer amid uncertainty around his future, while Kobbie Mainoo has become a key part of Michael Carrick’s plans.
Speaking on his podcast, Ben Foster thinks that Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson is best positioned to replace Casemiro at Old Trafford.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what they need to do [a Casemiro replacement],” he said on Fozcast.
“They need that little engine. Elliot Anderson is a great shot for that, yeah.”
Outside of backing a Man Utd move for Elliot Anderson, Foster is convinced that United need a “killer” forward signing to benefit from Bruno Fernandes’ influence.
“But a big striker, a killer, if they had a killer, think of how many assists Bruno would have had if they had a killer striker?” he continued.
“If they had a [Erling] Haaland in there, oh my gosh. It would be ridiculous, wouldn’t it?”

Ben Foster on what should be a realistic 2026 Man Utd summer transfer window under Ineos
Foster thinks that Ineos must be prepared to sign four to five players across several key Man Utd positions, including in the defence, the midfield and the forward line.
“Four or five [signings are needed at United],” he explained.
“They need four or five players. They need a couple of midfielders, a couple of defenders, a couple of defenders and a striker.”
When asked if he wanted full-backs for the defensive options, Foster responded: “No, centre-halves. I need some big boy defenders.”
Ineos already made one major call ahead of the end of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign after Michael Carrick was appointed the permanent Man Utd head coach.
