Marcus Rashford’s performance has been criticised following Manchester United’s Premier League defeat to Newcastle.
A few weeks ago Marcus Rashford was one of the heroes as he scored at Wembley to secure a Carabao Cup final win for Manchester United against Newcastle.
This past weekend in a display against the same opponents, he struggled to make any sort of impact.
Manchester United fans will be hoping he can get back on track when the team are next in action at Old Trafford later this week.

Marcus Rashford criticised
Our player ratings graded Marcus Rashford’s performance as a 5/10. Perhaps that was generous as ESPN awarded him a lowly 3/10.
BBC Sport pundit Chris Waddle was critical, with the former winger commenting: “Rashford has been nowhere to be seen, his performance today has been very poor.”
Rashford had the fewest touches of any outfield player to complete 90 minutes, with only 29.
It shows how well Newcastle were able to limit him, and United in general, that Rashford did not attempt a single shot at goal.
What to make of Rashford’s display…
I am reluctant to be critical of Rashford due to the outstanding performances he has delivered this season. With 27 goals, he has scored 17 more goals than any Manchester United player.
This type of performance had been coming. Rashford’s form had trailed off before the international break.
Then he suffered an ‘injury’. Make of that what you will, the rest was much needed. But we don’t know if he was 100 per cent heading into the game.
United will need him to get back to his very best in the weeks ahead.
