BBC pundit Danny Murphy has singled out one Manchester United star with praise after Erik ten Hag’s men defeated Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Manchester United sealed their place in the fifth round of the competition with a 4-2 victory at the Rodney Parade, despite Newport County causing a big scare in the tie.
The Red Devils led 2-0 inside the opening 15 minutes thanks to Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, only for Newport County to rally back into the contest.
Goals from Bryn Morris and Will Evans pulled Graham Coughlan’s men level and handed Newport County a fighting chance in the fourth-round FA Cup match.
However, Antony restored United’s lead before Rasmus Hojlund found the back of the net in injury time to ensure that Newport County crashed out of the FA Cup.
United fans praised Mainoo for his performance on the night, while supporters also reacted to Altay Bayindir’s debut for the Red Devils and his performance overall.
Red Devils supporters reacted to Antony’s performance as well after the United winger scored and picked up an assist in the win over Newport County.

Murphy praises one United star
Manchester United, who were defeated in the FA Cup final last season, will now face the winner of Nottingham Forest vs Bristol City in the next stage of the competition.
Luke Shaw was back in action for Erik ten Hag’s men and impressed in the win over Newport County after his return from injury.
The 28-year-old United left-back missed the 2-0 FA Cup win over Wigan earlier this month and has been absent from his side’s last three Premier League matches.
Danny Murphy welcomed Shaw’s return to the United XI and praised the influence the England international has on the pitch, saying his side have “missed” him.
“I always think Man Utd look a better side when Shaw is in the team,” he said on BBC.
“He’s good defensively, calm on the ball and gets forward well. They have missed him.”
Murphy takes aim at Garnacho
Murphy was on commentary duties for BBC during the FA Cup tie and questioned Alejandro Garnacho’s decision-making in the first half of the match.
Garnacho struck the crossbar early on in the match, but Fernandes and Hojlund were in space for an easy tap-in and the United duo were furious their teammate didn’t pass.
“Fernandes is fuming and I think he’s right,” Murphy said.
“If Garnacho squares that, then Fernandes has a tap-in and the game is done. It’s a bit greedy.
“If Garnacho squares it, it’s a goal, 3-0, and it’s game over. Ten minutes later, it’s game on.”
