Manchester United have received a huge boost ahead of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United go into the game at Old Trafford needing a win against Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich, otherwise, the Red Devils will be subjected to another run in Europe’s second-rate knockout competition, the Europa League.

The Red Devils have some injuries to contend with this season, some injuries is perhaps underselling that fact. At one point during the season, United had 10 first-team absentees.

United’s injury problems seem to finally be easing but they will be without some first-team players for the game in Manchester.

Bayern set to be without key man

Well, it’s not just United who are suffering from injuries at this moment in time as it has emerged that Bayern are also dealing with absentees of their own.

According to Bayern’s official website, the Bavarian side will be without Serge Gnabry following the thigh injury that the former Arsenal forward suffered during the 5-1 drubbing to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German was forced off the pitch just five minutes after being summoned from the bench against Frankfurt and the forward will now miss the game against the Red Devils.

Gnabry’s been limited to just three starts this season, and Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman are likely to start in his absence.

Bayern are now surely set to field a strengthened team despite the Bundesliga club already qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.

Tuchel will want to see a response from his players following the humbling defeat over the weekend.

United’s chance

Whether there is ever a right time to play Bayern is not known but surely facing the German champions following a weekend thumping will give the Red Devils a chance.

United lost 3-0 over the weekend to Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, so the Red Devils themselves won’t be in the most confident mood.

A win over the German side and qualification could be the exact kind of boost the Red Devils will need.
