Fresh after the humiliation of losing against basement side Levante, Atletico Madrid have been given a timely boost regarding Antoine Griezmann.
The Frenchman has missed the last seven matches after suffering a muscle injury relapse, but MARCA have reported that he has returned to training today.
The loss at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium to La Liga’s bottom side meant that the Rojiblancos missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog Barcelona into the all important fourth place.
But with Griezmann back amongst Diego Simeone’s group, the reigning La Liga champions will be hoping the World Cup winner’s return proves the catalyst in improving their indifferent form.

Prior to the shock defeat at the hands of Levante, Simeone said: “Griezmann who is returning on Thursday will train with the team and will be [ready] against Osasuna.”
MARCA stated today: “The Frenchman seems to have definitely left behind the muscle injury he suffered at the Santiago Bernabeu and from which he fell to Rayo Majadahonda and exercised at the same level as his teammates.”
The 30-year-old picked up the injury in the Madrid derby on 12 December before returning and antagonising the injury in the Copa del Rey clash against Rayo on 6 January.
The report adds: “Everything indicates that Griezmann will have minutes against Osasuna and will arrive in the best possible condition for this Wednesday’s Champions League match against Manchester United at the Metropolitano.”

Griezmann’s return comes after Matheus Cunha was brought off against Levante with a knee injury. The Brazilian is expected to miss the first-leg against Ralf Rangnick’s side.
Simeone’s side travel to Osasuna on Saturday. Antoine Griezmann is Atletico Madrid’s top scorer in the Champions League this season with four goals.
Similar to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, Griezmann is the only Atletico player to score more than one goal in Europe’s top club competition this campaign.
