The timing of Radek Vitek’s sensational loan at Bristol City was unfortunate for him, as it means he returns to Manchester United with a bonafide number one already in Senne Lammens.
This wasn’t the case when Vitek went on loan, and he might have had ambitions of returning to be United’s starting goalkeeper following this loan.
Now, United have to decide between Lammens and Vitek this summer.

It has been claimed that Vitek could be handed the back-up role to Lammens next season; however, all along, there have been doubts over whether he would accept this, having got a taste of first-team football.
However, now Andy Mitten has explained on the United We Stand YouTube channel, the latest he is hearing about Vitek’s future, and it isn’t good for fans of the Czechia keeper.
“An experienced goalkeeper [is set to be targeted] to back up, help, and assist Senne Lammens.
“People will say what about Radek, who has been at Bristol City, and I expect him to be sold. I might be wrong there, I speak to lots of [different] people.”
This might be a controversial call from Ineos, given his clear talent. But from the player’s point of view, it makes sense that he would want to be playing every week.
A sale might even be beneficial to United.

Vitek sale could boost Manchester United transfer window
After the season Vitek had in the Championship, a sale could see United fetch a pretty hefty fee for him this summer.
James Trafford went for £31m last summer from the Championship, so based on this, Vitek would surely be valued at least near the £15-20m mark this summer by lower Premier League clubs.
Vitek came through the United academy. Therefore, he represents pure profit for the club and money to add to United’s £250m transfer kitty this summer.
Selling Vitek will likely be alongside exits for both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, with Mitten suggesting that a new experienced back-up is on the transfer agenda.
If sold, it is important that United ensure there is a sell-on clause or a buy-back option in the deal.
