Manchester United are in the process of finalising their first transfer of the summer, with Ederson set to sign from Atalanta.
Preparations are underway for the 2026/27 season as Manchester United try to make use of the summer transfer window by signing players that will help take the team to the next level.
United have reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Emerson for £38 million in a deal that sees him become the first signing since Michael Carrick became permanent head coach.
The transfer will mark the beginning of United’s midfield revamp amid Casemiro’s departure.

Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Andy Cole hopes Ederson can replicate Casemiro
It has been well documented that Ederson is a box-to-box midfielder with the capabilities to play advanced or defensive roles.
Although Brazilian, Ederson is not a like-for-like Casemiro replacement. Carrick will hope that he can complement the team similarly to how his compatriot did.
Former United striker Andy Cole is hoping that Ederson can replicate Casemiro by being a good signing for United.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Cole said: “I’m hoping so, but however you look at that, I think Casemiro has been a fine player for many, many years.
“You know, there was a couple of seasons ago, everyone was questioning him, you know, and you know, as I say, always rises to the top and he did that to the back end of his Manchester United career and he was fantastic last season.
“So hopefully Ederson will be able to go in there and do a good sterling job like Casemiro did.”
Ederson will be doing something right if he can have the same influence on the team that Casemiro had.

Casemiro relishing Brazil not being World Cup favourites
Casemiro is one of the most experienced players in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad this summer.
There was no room for Ederson in the Brazil squad, but he will hope that changes now if he is playing on the biggest stage for United next season.
Brazil, who are looking to win a record-extending sixth World Cup title, find themselves trailing the favourites to win the tournament this summer.
“We aren’t the big favourites,” Casemiro told FIFA’s media channel after Brazil arrived in the US.
“Of course, we’re in good shape; we’ve got a strong squad, with a mix of experience and young talent.
“Perhaps this time we’re a step behind, but we’re on our toes and that’s always a good thing. We want to go there in good shape and have a great World Cup.”
