Champions League dream
Andrey Santos has a chance to achieve a goal that was not available to him at Chelsea in the 2026/27 season.
Santos will be part of Manchester United’s squad attempting to win the Champions League, a competition Chelsea did not qualify for.
Speaking to Chelsea club media previously, he explained that winning top silverware is his dream; the sign of an ambitious player.
He said: “I want to win the Champions League and the Premier League. When I was young, they were the competitions that I used to watch and now I have had the chance to play in these competitions and we have to work hard every day to win these trophies.”
Santos did play for Chelsea in the competition last season before they were eliminated by PSG. He can use that experience to his advantage for United.

Andrey Santos advice from Casemiro

Santos talks up versatility
Andrey Santos can play in multiple roles in midfield, and this versatility makes him an intriguing player for Michael Carrick to work with.
Speaking to Chelsea last season, Santos explained: “I’ve also played as a holding midfielder, really focusing on helping with the build-up and breaking up the opposition’s play. I can play as a second pivot and even as the third player in the midfield,
“I like one-vs-one defensive play, and then my quality on the ball and my passes help to break the lines. I like duels too.’
“I like to play as a six or an eight – it doesn’t matter – and if the coach says, “Andrey, you have to play like a six,” I will do my best. If he says I have to play like an eight, I will do my best as well. And it must be great to play alongside whoever joins you in that midfield triangle here.”
United are still in the process of adding to the midfield with work ongoing in the transfer market. Santos being able to play in different positions enables the rest of the recruitment to have a little more fluidity.
