Andrey Santos to Man Utd is in extremely early stages, but it’s already clear that Michael Carrick is the perfect manager for him due to who his idol is.

Ineos are firmly on the lookout for alternatives after conceding the race to sign Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes.

Andrey Santos of Chelsea is an intriguing option, and Chelsea are open to selling the Brazilian if the move suits all parties.

For Man Utd, it could be poetic if he arrived due to who his idol is, also making Michael Carrick the perfect manager for him.

Man Utd are looking at signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea… What is your verdict?

What is your advice to Ineos on the state of the transfer window so far?

Andrey Santos idolises Casemiro

For a young Brazilian midfielder aiming to establish himself in the game, the main role model they would have seen coming through is Casemiro.

From his years of tremendous success at Real Madrid to his beautiful story of grit, desire, and comeback at Man Utd, Casemiro is a true legend of the game.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Andrey Santos revealed back in 2024 that his idol in football is also Casemiro.

He said [via Diario AS]: “Casemiro has always been my idol. Now I follow Rodrigo (Rodri) a lot because he is phenomenal. My idols are Rodri, Casemiro, and Bruno Guimarães. I really like Bruno because of his personality, because of the way he plays. I admire him very much.”

It would be extremely poetic if he now replaces Casemiro at Old Trafford, with the legend departing the club on a free transfer to sign for Inter Miami.

The Santos deal is far from advanced yet, but the charm of following in his idol’s footsteps at United will surely be too much to resist.

Any remaining doubt in his mind should be cleared due to who the Man Utd manager is.

Michael Carrick is the perfect manager for Santos

If the Casemiro who turned up for Brazil at this World Cup is evidence of anything, it’s that Carrick is a tactical genius who got the best out of a declining power.

Will Casemiro’s comments on Manchester United inspire other top players to follow? What is your response to his statement?

He minimised the space for him to cover and gave him freedom to flood forward at every opportunity so his strengths were accentuated and his weaknesses were covered.

Santos is quite similar to Casemiro, but the Man Utd version, who was defensively suspect and could get you goals from midfield.

There’s no better manager than Carrick to turn Santos into peak Casemiro, where he can combine his goalscoring with elite defensive skills.

He already made Casemiro look much better than he is. Santos is younger, more mobile, and has loads to learn. There’s no better teacher than Carrick.
