Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand shared his telling reaction to spine-tingling footage of Andre Onana receiving an incredible reception from fans in Uganda.
Andre Onana made a stunning U-turn on his international retirement in 2023 after he repaired his relationship with former Cameroon boss Rigobert Song.
Rigobert Song, who stepped down as head coach of Cameroon after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, had fallen out with Onana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Onana returned to international duty and featured at the 2023 AFCON, with Nigeria knocking Song’s men out of the competition in a 2-0 win in the round of 16.
The 28-year-old Manchester United No 1 has been away from Old Trafford during the September international break after being included in the Cameroon squad.
Onana played in Cameroon’s 1-0 win over Namibia on Saturday in their Group J Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Roumd Adjia Stadium in Cameroon.

Why was Onana in Uganda?
Andre Onana was back in the starting XI for Cameroon’s 0-0 draw against Zimbabwe in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Tuesday.
However, the AFCON qualifier was hosted at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, instead of in Zimbabwe.
According to The Daily Mail, Zimbabwe’s pitches were deemed ‘substandard’ for the matches to be played on and the country moved its fixtures to Uganda.
Onana received an incredible reception from fans in Uganda and the Manchester United star shared his feelings about the “warm welcome” he received.

Posting a compilation featuring photos and footage from his time in Uganda, the Cameroon international wrote: “Thank you for the warm welcome.
“I would have liked to spend more time with all of you. See you next month in Uganda.”

Marc Brys took charge of Cameroon after Rigobert Song left his post and the country are in control of Group D in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Cameroon are top of Group D and Marc Brys’ men are one point clear of second-place Libya and third-place Cape Verde after four matches.
United legend Rio Ferdinand took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and was in awe at the spine-tingling reception that Onana received.
Resharing the footage for his X followers, he simply wrote: “Love this!”
Onana is expected to return to Old Trafford this week after the international break and will likely start against Southampton on Saturday at the St Mary’s.
