Andre Onana has been placed on the receiving end of a scathing assessment and the Manchester United star has been slammed for doing the “truly inexplicable.”
The 28-year-old Cameroonian shot-stopper is currently in his second season at Old Trafford after a mixed first campaign at Manchester United.
Andre Onana arrived in a £47.2m deal from Serie A side Inter Milan in 2023 and succeeded United legend David de Gea between the sticks at the Red Devils.
The former Ajax star struggled in his debut season at Old Trafford after committing howlers, but it had initially appeared that Onana had turned a page this season.
Onana started off the season in relatively strong form, but the United No 1 has once again faced scathing criticism over his inconsistency and proneness to errors.
The Cameroon international has retained his place as United No 1 under Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag as Red Devils manager in 2024.
However, Onana is under pressure to turn the tide back in his favour and find his best form after his struggles in recent months at Old Trafford.

Onana criticised for one repeated mistake
Andre Onana and Harry Maguire were both placed in the firing line during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The former Inter Milan and Ajax shot-stopper parried Everton winger Jack Harrison’s shot into the air and Abdoulaye Doucoure then headed the ball past him.
Harry Maguire failed to clear the loose ball before Abdoulaye Doucoure towered above him, with United fans left furious at both the defender and Onana.
Onana has been met with criticism for his theatrical saves and pushing the ball back into dangerous areas by eagle-eyed Red Devils supporters in the past.
Former Inter shot-stopper Alberto Fontana has now pulled no punches towards the Cameroon international for his “classic” theatrical efforts to deny a shot on his net.
“I couldn’t stand Andre Onana,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport, as per FC Inter News.
“A lot of smoke, a lot of somersaults. I played that role for many years and I know when you want to make something seem difficult that in reality is not.
“The classic ‘saves for the photographers.’ I have always not been a fan of Onana and I can’t explain how he is at that level.
“£50 million for him? Come on, I wouldn’t take him for free.”
Man Utd star Onana sent brutal warning
Ruben Amorim has kept faith with Onana as his No 1 ahead of Altay Bayindir, but it remains to be seen if the former Ajax player is still part of his long-term project.
Alberto Fontana pulled no punches further on Onana after the former Bari and Atalanta player claimed that United are not that “enthusiastic” about him now.
“He is a goalkeeper who is unpopular with his teammates because he always seeks applause for himself,” he added.
“For me, it is truly inexplicable. So well done Inter for selling him. I don’t think Manchester United are enthusiastic about him.”
