New Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is settling in at the club and looks to have struck up a close friendship already.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan goalkeeper clinched his move to Manchester United last week, unveiled as David de Gea’s replacement.

Andre Onana has already spoken about being impressed with the ‘amazing’ quality in Manchester United’s training sessions, while veteran Tom Heaton says he is learning from him already.

Now as United prepare for a glamour friendly with Real Madrid, Onana has been pictured striking up a new friendship with striker Anthony Martial.

Andre Onana and Anthony Martial

Andre Onana and Anthony Martial were pictured in San Diego, sharing a joke as they walked out to train.

Martial was making his return to first team group training sessions, having been working individual sessions beforehand.

He has been treated with extreme caution since his hamstring injury at the end of last season which caused him to miss the FA Cup final.

Martial was pictured grinning from ear to ear as he shared a conversation with new signing Andre Onana.

Little moments like these will help Onana feel at home. Love it or not, Martial is now one of United’s longest serving players behind Luke Shaw, having joined the club back in 2015.

Erik ten Hag on Anthony Martial

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is treading carefully with Anthony Martial, having seen how injury prone he was last season.

The Athletic report Ten Hag will not select Martial in a friendly or competitive match until he is totally convinced of his fitness.

While some fans have given up on the Frenchman, Ten Hag has not. He spoke in glowing terms about him in a press conference this week.

The manager said: “Anthony Martial is a brilliant football player and so he will help us. He scored goals and also in other areas of football like pressing, in possession, combinations.

“He’s a great player and, yeah, let’s hope he will be fit and he stays fit.”

United are continuing to look at signing a striker, with Ten Hag adding that United are making progress in attempts to do so.
