It was a surprise to many that Amad was named on the bench for Ivory Coast’s World Cup opener against Ecuador.
He had to wait until the 56th minute to be introduced as a substitute, replacing United target Bazoumana Toure.
In his short cameo, Amad was extremely impactful, and he scored the winning goal with a neat left-footed finish into the bottom corner in the 90th minute.
Amad scored three goals at AFCON in the winter period, and now he has scored his first World Cup goal for his nation.

Heading into the summer transfer window, United were linked to Yan Diomande as a winger target.
