Manchester United star Amad Diallo has finally opened up on a “very important” encounter that he had with one Premier League legend while away on holiday.

Amad Diallo is currently on the pre-season tour with Manchester United, with the 22-year-old Ivorian winger securing regular playing time this summer.

The United attacker missed the opening pre-season match against Rosenborg earlier this month before starting against Scottish side Rangers at the Murrayfield Stadium.

Diallo, who had a loan spell at Rangers, made his mark against the Gers after opening the scoring in the first half of the 2-0 win in Scotland.

The Ivorian started his second consecutive match for United against Arsenal last Sunday during the United States leg of the pre-season tour.

Diallo played the first half before he was withdrawn by Erik ten Hag and replaced by Antony at half-time during the match at the SoFi Stadium in California.

Diallo on what Premier League legend said

Amad Diallo was spotted with Premier League legend Yaya Toure last month while he was on holiday, with the Manchester United star calling him a ‘legend.’

Yaya Toure enjoyed a successful period in the Premier League after he left Barcelona and signed for Manchester City in 2010.

The 41-year-old former Manchester City midfielder lifted three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup before he left United’s rivals in 2018.

Diallo was thrilled that he had the chance to cross paths with his fellow Ivorian and cryptically teased that he received “some secret” advice from Yaya Toure Toure.

“This summer I met him on holiday and he gave me some advice – some secret,” he said from United’s training base at UCLA, as per Goal.

Despite his initial teasing response, Diallo said that his encounter with former Ivory Coast international Toure was “very important” for him.

The United winger added that he received “some advice for the future” from Toure before turning his attention to the 2024-25 Premier League season.

“It’s a secret,” he added.

“He said something is good for me. He is a good guy. Yaya Toure scored a lot of goals with City.

“Meeting him on holiday and talking with him was very important for me. He gave me some advice for the future. Let’s see what happens at the end of the season.”

Diallo talks Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

Diallo has revealed that he has had a “positive conversation” with Erik ten Hag and claimed that the Dutchman has a “lot of confidence” in him.

“We had a conversation, a positive conversation, and he said to me good things,” he said at a news conference at UCLA on Tuesday.

“I believe in the manager. Last season I didn’t play a lot, but I think I will have good things this season.

“The manager, everyone thinks is a good guy. I speak with him and he gives me a lot of confidence.”
