Manchester United star Amad Diallo has made his stance clear to Erik ten Hag over what to expect from him ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Amad Diallo has been with the Manchester United squad for this summer’s pre-season tour, with the Ivorian securing regular playing time.
The 22-year-old winger missed the opening match of the pre-season campaign earlier this month, with United losing 1-0 to Norwegian side Rosenborg.
However, Diallo was part of the starting XI for the Rangers clash and played a starring role in the 2-0 win at the Murrayfield Stadium in Scotland.
The United star, who previously had a loan spell at Rangers, found the back of the net in the first half before he came off at half-time in the pre-season friendly.
Diallo returned to the starting XI on Sunday for the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal and played the first half against the Gunners at the SoFi Stadium in California.

Diallo sends clear message to Ten Hag
Speaking during the pre-season tour, Amad Diallo sent a clear message that he is “motivated” by the opportunity to prove himself next season.
The Ivory Coast international praised United’s first-team squad and singled out talents like Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.
However, Diallo admitted that there is stiff competition in the starting XI and it would be down to Erik ten Hag to make the key decisions next season.
“I am so motivated to start the season, I’m so excited, I believe in the manager,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.
“Last season, I know I didn’t play a lot but this season is going to be a good season for everyone and I’m so motivated to start the season.
“I think everyone wants to play, that’s why in the training you need to put everything in to fight and start in the XI.
“Everyone wants to play. We have a good team, good players – Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Rashford – so the final [decision] is the manager who can decide who is on the pitch and who is on the bench.
“But when you don’t play you need to be ready, you can see the game when you are on the bench. Everyone is important in the team.”
Diallo on previous injury setback
Diallo missed the opening of United’s 2023-24 Premier League season after he was ruled out of action due to a knee injury that he picked up on the tour in 2023.
The United star bounced back from his injury and had a breakout season at Old Trafford, with Diallo establishing himself in the club’s first team.
Diallo admitted that it was a difficult period for him when he was injured last season, but he was happy with how he came back “stronger” from his setback.
“It was not easy for me to get an injury in pre-season last season,” he said.
“I was out a long time but the most important thing was to come back stronger, to help the team and in the end, I was happy with my contribution. I forgot the past and now I’m thinking about the present.”
