In just three games, Amad Diallo has emerged as a key player under Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United beat Everton 4-0 on Sunday afternoon and Amad Diallo was the star of the show as he added two assists to his tally.

The 22-year-old now has four assists in his last four games and has seriously impressed in a right wing-back role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

Amorim raved about Amad’s “explosive” performance after the full-time whistle, and it would be a surprise if he didn’t retain his spot as a starter when United face Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

United came close to losing Amad Diallo after he was repeatedly overlooked by Erik ten Hag, but the Red Devils are now desperate to keep hold of him.

Amad Diallo’s contract situation at Man United

Amad joined United from Atalanta for £19m in 2021 and the contract he signed is set to expire next summer.

It means he is about to enter the final six months of his deal which would allow him to discuss a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.

United do have a one-year extension attached to Amad’s deal which would block any January talks if triggered.

United in Focus spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey and he explained that there is “real confidence” at United that Amad will sign a new deal.

New contracts for both Amad and Kobbie Mainoo are an active priority for the club now that Amorim has settled in.

Amorim has confirmed to Ashworth and United’s hierarchy that Amad needs to stay, same with Mainoo.

Amad has adapted well to Amorim’s style of play and is thriving as a wing-back.

United’s new head coach likes what he has seen from the young Ivory Coast international and The Telegraph report that Amorim has made Amad’s new contract a priority.

The report adds that Amorim is set to hold talks over Amad’s future at the club before he enters the final six months of his deal.

United sources say Amad’s contract is “firmly on the agenda” in the next few weeks and it would be a deserved boost given his impressive attitude and performances this season.

Amad currently earns £28,846-a-week at Old Trafford but that figure will likely soar as part of a new bumper deal.
