Alex Telles shows Manchester United what he is capable of
Alex Telles was linked with a move to Manchester United over the weekend, with The Mirror among several outlets to report interest.
Fabrizio Romano had also claimed: “Man Utd are monitoring and considering an opening bid.”
Porto are in a weak position over Telles because the left-back has only one year left on his contract.
Telles showed at the weekend exactly why United are keen on him as he stepped up to lead Porto to a win.
Telles scored two penalties as Porto won 3-1 at home to Braga, and provided an impressive assist for Sergio Oliveira’s headed opener.
The left-back’s cross was inch-perfect, displaying an element of creativity which Luke Shaw lacks.
This cross was one of four chances Telles created during the victory in a man-of-the-match display.
Perfectly timed
Telles showed he can offer an attacking outlet which Luke Shaw does not for Manchester United.
Shaw did not create a single chance in United’s 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace. This is not uncommon.
Telles would bring a new dimension to United if the Red Devils are able to pull off a move.
Last season Telles provided a total of eight assists in the Primeira Liga and 12 in all competitions.
The Telegraph reported at the weekend that United are in talks to sign the Brazilian.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim Porto would accept a fee of £18.5 million for the defender.
Porto boss Sergio Conceicao was reported by the MEN to have said he would accept Telles being sold, so long as the club sign a replacement.
