Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho posted an emotionally charged message after a photo of him wearing an Argentina shirt with one player’s name went viral.
Alejandro Garnacho and Manchester United teammate Lisandro Martinez are both away from Old Trafford during the September international break.
Lisandro Martinez and Garnacho were called up for the Argentina squad by Lionel Scaloni for the two World Cup qualifying matches this month.
Garnacho saw his time limited with Argentina at the 2024 Copa America in the summer, while Martinez played a key role in the successful title defence.
Argentina were in action against Chile in their World Cup qualifier on Friday and Lionel Scaloni’s men secured a 3-0 win at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires.

Garnacho’s response to photo
Lisandro Martinez started the match against Chile, while Alejandro Garnacho had to settle for a place on the bench for the World Cup qualifier.
However, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni turned to Garnacho in the second half and introduced him into the attack in the 79th minute in place of Lautaro Martinez.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for Argentina early into the second half before Julian Alvarez doubled La Albiceleste’s advantage in the 84th minute of the contest.
Garnacho, who received his Argentina debut under Scaloni, then made his presence felt in injury time by setting up Paulo Dybala for his country’s third against Chile.
The 20-year-old winger’s brother took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared a photo of a young Garnacho wearing a Paulo Dybala shirt.
Roberto Garnacho wrote: “How do I explain that Garnacho was always a Dybalist?”
The Manchester United star wasted no time in sharing a heartfelt reaction to the photo after setting up Argentina teammate Dybala.
“Just football,” Garnacho wrote, adding a teary eyed emoji and a white heart emoji.
Dybala’s reaction to Garnacho photo
Speaking to TyC Sports, Paulo Dybala was asked if he had seen the photo of a young Garnacho wearing the Argentina shirt with his name on it.
The 30-year-old Roma star admitted that he hadn’t asked his teammate about the photo, but he waxed lyrical about Garnacho and called him a “tremendous player.”
“I haven’t asked him yet, but incredible, beautiful,” Dybala said.
“Grateful, he’s a tremendous player and has an incredible future.
“It depends on him because he has all the conditions to make history both in Europe and in the national team.”
