Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has sent a clear-cut message about Argentina reaching the 2024 Copa America final after the 2-0 win against Canada in the semi-finals.
Argentina are now within touching distance of retaining their Copa America crown after a convincing victory over Canada on Wednesday.
The 2021 Copa America champions had defeated Canada in their Group A opener at the tournament before their second encounter in the semi-finals.
Goals from Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi at the MetLife Stadium ensured Argentina’s place in the Copa America final.
Argentina will now play the winner of Uruguay vs Colombia, who play in the semi-finals on Thursday, in the final on 15th July at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

Lisandro Martinez has been widely praised for his performances at the 2024 Copa America in the United States after playing a key role in Argentina’s title defence.
The 26-year-old Manchester United defender has been at the heart of the Argentina defence alongside Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero.
Martinez has linked up superbly well with Cristian Romero and Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has reaped the benefits that the pair have brought to his backline.
The former Ajax star, whose season at Old Trafford was curtailed due to injuries, impressed with his display in the Group A opener against Canada.
Martinez followed up his performance against Canada with another solid showing in the 1-0 win over Chile at this summer’s Copa America.
The Argentina defender was an unused substitute in the final Group A match against Peru after Lionel Scaloni’s men had reached the knockout stages of the competition.
Martinez was back in the starting XI for the quarter-finals and found the back of the net for Argentina in the win over Ecuador, with the United star impressing again.
The 2022 World Cup winner took to Instagram after the Canada match and sent a poignant rallying call after Argentina punched their ticket to the Copa America final.
“A feeling, don’t try to understand it!! ANOTHER AMERICA FINAL!! See you on Sunday, [Argentina] ALL TOGETHER let’s f*****g go [sic],” Martinez wrote.

Lisandro showed his quality against Canada in the semi-finals and Emi Martinez has benefited from the cover he has received from the United star and Cristian Romero.
Argentina have conceded twice in four of the five matches where Lisandro has been in the backline, with Emi Martinez sending a clear-cut message to his teammate.
Emi took to Instagram and left a comment on Lisandro’s Instagram post, with the Argentina No 1 writing the message “Que seguridad.”
The 31-year-old Aston Villa star’s message translated to English roughly means ‘What a safety,’ with Argentina’s defence holding up strong in the competition.

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni welcomed his side’s success at the tournament so far and sent an important message about his team’s mentality.
Speaking after the Copa America semi-finals, he said (via ESPN): “Football is this: trying things even when they don’t go your way.
“This team will never stop trying.”
