Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has sent a heartfelt message to supporters after losing to Newcastle United.

Sunday was a difficult day for Manchester United fans everywhere, maybe with the exception of new Masters champion Rory McIlroy.

United lost 4-1 at Newcastle United as Ruben Amorim suffered a heavy defeat in the North East.

Amorim’s focus may be on the Europa League, but such a torrid performance is always going to spark concerns and questions.

Roy Keane believes Amorim doesn’t like his United squad, and the summer can’t come soon enough for many.

Alejandro Garnacho message to Manchester United fans

United’s only real bright spot from Sunday’s game was the goal from Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentinian has come in for criticism this season with his end product causing frustration.

Paul Scholes branded Garnacho ‘erratic’ after Thursday’s draw against Lyon, but the winger at least responded with a well-taken goal at Newcastle.

Garnacho has now taken to social media to offer a message to United fans in light of Sunday’s defeat.

Posting on his Instagram story, Garnacho admitted that Sunday’s performance was not good enough and believes the players will learn moving forward.

Garnacho issued a rallying call to supporters, too, calling for full support ahead of facing Lyon on Thursday night.

‘It’s not enough. We know you all expect better from us, we’ll learn. We need you all at Old Trafford on Thursday. It’s a big day for all of us,’ he added.

Ruben Amorim needs more from Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho took his goal so well, slotting home on his left foot to leave Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope stranded.

This is the kind of quality we want to see from Garnacho on a more regular basis, and we are sure Ruben Amorim agrees.

There is plenty of quality in Garnacho’s locker, but we just haven’t seen it come out on a consistent basis this season.

Gary Neville has suggested patience over Garnacho, highlighting that Cristiano Ronaldo also had problems with consistency at a similar age.

The summer transfer window is approaching and Garnacho may well be at the centre of transfer rumours once again – unless he can produce consistent displays in the final weeks of the campaign.
