Alan Shearer has been discussing his views on Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund after another frustrating weekend for the striker.
Manchester United overcame Luton Town during the weekend, however, the attacking display left much to be desired.
The front three all missed huge chances, with Rasmus Hojlund missing two on his own to continue his frustrating start to domestic football.
This was the most disappointing aspect of the game, as he failed to capitalise on the momentum he built following a brace against Copenhagen. Now, the legendary Premier League striker Alan Shearer has had his say on Hojlund’s struggles in a recent podcast.

Alan Shearer on Hojlund
Speaking on this Monday’s episode of The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer admitted he has some sympathy for Hojlund after this weekend.
“I feel a bit sorry for him, he shouldn’t be in the position he’s in, in terms of the fee that’s been paid for him and the pressure that’s on him,” Shearer explained.
He then added, “he should be a player that’s in and out, using him as a sub, starting him here and there. They should’ve had a big hitter in there, so I think I’ve got a bit of sympathy for him, but I do see a potential goalscorer in there. He’ll be having sleepless nights because of what is happening to him in front of goal in the Premier League, and it looks like he’s out now with a hamstring injury.”
Shearer then finished by emphasising, “There is definitely something there.” Which Harry Maguire has also emphasised, insisting it is a ‘matter of time’ before Hojlund finds the net.
Rasmus was very unlucky v Luton
Hojlund’s luck in domestic competitions is awful, he just seems destined to not score and looks a completely different player when lining out in the Champions League.
He had one proper chance which he had to be scoring, but the ball came off his knee and he missed the chance. Then another which was a glancing header which a top striker should be converting.
However, he also was unlucky not to get his first assist for the club, with a brilliant piece of play putting Alejandro Garnacho one-on-one only for the Argentine to frustratingly squander the chance.
The latest series of misses for Hojlund leaves him on eight for the season, but surely eventually he will begin scoring and when he does he likely won’t stop.
