Manchester United defender Harry Maguire makes Rasmus Hojlund prediction

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has hailed striker Rasmus Hojlund as his wait for a Premier League goal goes on.

Manchester United claimed another Premier League win on Saturday afternoon, beating Luton Town 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Victor Lindelof was the unlikely match-winner, firing home in the second half to give United all three points.

That’s four wins in the last five Premier League games but we are still waiting to see Rasmus Hojlund open his Premier League account…

Rasmus Hojlund endures another frustrating Premier League outing

Hojlund has now played 651 Premier League minutes across nine appearances and is yet to score.

The summer signing from Atalanta has hit five goals in four Champions League games but still can’t find the net in Premier League action.

It’s a bizarre quirk for the 20-year-old, who has shown really promising signs this season and is desperate to end this hoodoo.

Hojlund had two big chances on Saturday; one close-range shot was superbly saved by Thomas Kaminski before then planting a header wide of the post in the second half.

This proved to be a very frustrating day as Hojlund then went off injured in the second half and will not join up with Denmark in this international break.

United will hope that the injury isn’t too serious, but it’s certainly a concern for Erik ten Hag and co.

Harry Maguire defends Manchester United striker Hojlund

United defender Harry Maguire has now moved to praise Hojlund, telling The Express that he is a ‘top player’.

Maguire highlighted that Hojlund is finding the net in training as well as in the Champions League, predicting that it’s just a ‘matter of time’ until Hojlund explodes in the Premier League too.

“Ras is a top player,” said Maguire. “He scores goals in training, you’ve seen him score goals in the Champions League and I am sure it is a matter of time before he bangs a few in the Prem as well,” he added.

We have to agree here; Hojlund has already shown major talent and potential in Premier League games.

Five goals in four Champions League games is a great record for a young striker who is still learning his trade at the top level.

There are goals in Hojlund and it may well be that one Premier League sets him on a goalscoring run, with his United teammates clearly in his corner.
