Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is moving closer to a return from injury.

The Mail report Aaron Wan-Bissaka has taken a ‘major step’ towards a comeback after returning to light training sessions.

Wan-Bissaka has been out of action since suffering an injury in early September, which compounded an already stretched backline.

Wan-Bissaka will not be ready to make his comeback this weekend against City, but he won’t be far off.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka comeback

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a reliable player since his £50 million arrival from Crystal Palace in 2019. It will be a welcome sight to see him back.

The defender likely won’t be back for the Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle next week either.

But we could see him back in early November, possibly making the travelling squad to face Copenhagen away from home, if his progress goes well, with The Mail reporting he is around 10 days away from being match-ready.

Improves two positions

Aaron Wan-Bissaka would improve Manchester United in two different positions.

He will be competing for his place at right-back, which he began as first choice earlier this season.

Diogo Dalot has played well and may like his chances of retaining his spot – but the Portugal international’s versatility is a big help.

This is where the second position comes in. Diogo Dalot can move out to left-back, where he was playing before Wan-Bissaka got injured.

United are light here with Luke Shaw out with and injury along with Tyrell Malacia.

However, Malacia was also seen in light training earlier this week, and it could soon be that United have a significant double boost, strengthening at both full-back positions.
