9-goal striker admits he’s excited to play alongside £64 million Man United star at Euro 2024

Danish striker Jonas Winds has admitted he is excited to form a potentially lethal partnership with Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund has struggled to score goals in the Premier League this season but has netted 5 times for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the Champions League.

In the European Championship qualifiers, the 20-year-old netted seven goals in the competition as Denmark prepare to make a push for the international championship next summer.

Hojlund joined United for £64 million but that deal could rise to £73 million if certain add-ons are met, the 20-year-old has failed to live up to the high expectations set with that figure so far.

Winds on Hojlund

It seems almost certain we will see Hojlund line up for his national side in next summer’s European Championship and he could be key for his national team.

Well, VFL Wolfsburg striker Jonas Winds, who has netted nine times in 15 outings and has also provided four assists for the German side, could be lining up alongside the 20-year-old.

“We know each other from Copenhagen,” Winds told WhoScored. “We played a year together and he’s a really good guy,” Wind said when asked about his fellow Danish forward.

“I think the way I play and the way he plays, it’s a good mix, so whenever we play, and if we play together for the national team, we do a good job.”

Winds, alongside Hojlund, has been crucial for Denmark with three goals and four assists. “Hopefully we can continue that for the Euros in Germany,” the Wolfsburg forward said.

Hojlund’s chance

Once Marcus Rashford returns to the first team, he has to be back on the left with Hojlund up front for the Red Devils, this could be the key to getting the best out of the Danish striker.

Hojlund’s struggles have not been helped by Alejandro Garnacho and Antony, who have both failed to find the former FC Sturm Graz striker regularly enough for him to contribute to the team.

He has excelled for his national team this season and his club side could take a leaf out of their book in getting more out of Hojlund.
