Manchester United’s season hit its lowest point last night with the 2-0 defeat against Burnley at Old Trafford.
United made a reasonable start to the game – although they failed to make the most of it – but as soon as Chris Wood opened the scoring, the confidence vanished from the side.
That was obvious from the body language of the players and there were plenty of images from the game of the players showing the strain of the situation show during the match.
We’ve had a look at some of the more vivid images of the protagonists on the worst night of the campaign for United.

United played like a side who were absolutely out of ideas in the second half of last night’s match.
There was no discernible gameplan to fall back on, as well as a lack of confidence and invention.
The pressure of the situation looks to have turned United’s thin squad into a broken team, as some of these images show.

There is an argument to be made that these players do not have enough resilience, consistency and mental fortitude to play for United.
But United have rattled through the players since Sir Alex Ferguson retired and the famous red shirt has weighed down pretty much all of them.
So perhaps the rot which has set in at the top of the club has filtered down and plays a part in players looking as bereft and broken as they did last night.
