Peter Schmeichel reacted to an eye-catching Manchester United detail featuring Bruno Fernandes in the Nottingham Forest match at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes was able to notch up a record-tying 20th Premier League assist in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
The 31-year-old Man Utd captain set up Bryan Mbeumo late in the second half and Fernandes matched the record set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes has picked up 20 Premier League assists from 34 Premier League matches for the Red Devils amid his impressive second half of the campaign.

HOW impressed are you by Bruno Fernandes equalling Premier League history!
Can he go on to break the record?🤔
Peter Schmeichel on Bruno Fernandes’ performance for Man Utd against Nottingham Forest
Bruno Fernandes had multiple moments where he could have eclipsed the 20 assists that Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne had both achieved in separate seasons.
Bryan Mbeumo squandered his shots multiple times during the Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest match, while Diogo Dalot hit the post from a Fernandes pass.
Fernandes has only one Premier League match left with United to surpass the assist record before the end of the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.
Peter Schmeichel has now admitted that he spotted United players trying to help Fernandes break the Premier League assist feat in the final 15 minutes of the tie.
“The last 15 minutes they were trying to play Bruno in to get the record outright, but he did equal it!” he said, as per the Premier League’s official website.
“He’s now equalled Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry’s 20 assists in one season, it’s an incredible thing to do.”

United legend Schmeichel admitted that the final match at Old Trafford in the 2025-26 campaign was “entertaining,” irrespective of the quality of United’s display.
“It was brilliant to watch,” he said.
“We could argue if it was sloppy play or good play, it was entertaining!”
