Manchester United triumphed over Real Betis in the early hours of Thursday morning GMT and Erik ten Hag was making sure Harry Amass did one thing.
Pre-season is almost wrapped up for Manchester United with a second US tour game in the book ahead of the concluding game against Liverpool on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford opened up the scoring for United against Real Betis, drawing the sides level, while Amad Diallo made it 2-1 not long after – as he continues to become United’s main man in attack.
Casemiro scored the Red Devils final goal of the game, with Betis grabbing a consolation as United won the game 3-2 in the end.
Amid an encouraging performance, Harry Amass once again stood out and impressed. But one moment saw Erik ten Hag shouting at the teenager, here’s what he was telling him to do.

What Ten Hag was instructing Amass to do
During the early moments of the second half against Betis, United looked to come out of the blocks fast. In order to do so, the Red Devils were pressing high.
However, for Ten Hag one player simply wasn’t pressing high enough and MUTV’s Liam Bradford noticed the manager shouting instructions over to Amass.
He was telling the 17-year-old to push higher up the pitch, the commentator explained, adding he wanted him almost next to Rashford in possession.
This is a good sign for United and shows the style of football Ten Hag is trying to get his side playing right now, with it being impressive through pre-season to date.
Amass could be set to start the Community Shield
Amass has been a revelation for United at left-back so far in pre-season, fitting in like a glove and potentially meaning both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have had their positions usurped by a teenager.
But it isn’t through anything other than Amass being excellent that this has happened, with his outing against Betis being the best yet.
With two starts on the bounce, we could find that Amass has played his way into Ten Hag’s side for the Community Shield a week on Saturday.
Of course, this is a huge step up for him, but this coming weekend if he manages to handle Mohamed Salah there’s no reason he shouldn’t be playing vs City as well.
