Erik ten Hag has been sacked after Manchester United lost to West Ham in the Premier League.
The Red Devils failed to beat the Hammers at the London Stadium, in what is yet another miserable result in the 24/25 campaign.
But was Erik ten Hag to blame? United did have some bad performers against West Ham, but ultimately the squandered first-half chances were what ultimately lost them the fixture.
None were worse than that of Diogo Dalot’s, whose miss was utterly atrocious.

Joshua Zirkzee celebrated before Diogo Dalot’s miss
Bruno Fernandes’ lofted through ball found Dalot in the first half, who rounded Lukas Fabianski and bared down on the Hammers net.
It looked like a certain goal, all he had to do was keep it down, but on the half-volley, the right-back blasted it over the bar.
It’s arguably the worst miss of the Premier League season thus far, and it didn’t leave Dalot feeling a little red-faced.
Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans also spotted Joshua Zirkzee on the side celebrating before the Portuguese smacked the ball high over the goal. Awkward.
Alan Shearer on Diogo Dalot’s miss vs West Ham
Alan Shearer also tore into the miss, branding it ‘one of the worst misses in the Premier League era’.
He said at half-time: “Dalot’s miss is one of the worst misses in the Premier League era. “We’ll be talking about this in 20 years time.”
This is maybe taking it a little too far, there have been much worse, and Shearer was probably speaking in the moment.
Another thing the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer felt passionately about was the Matthijs de Ligt incident. Shearer agreed with Ten Hag that the West Ham penalty was ridiculous.
All United can do now is look ahead to the next fixture. The Red Devils take on Leicester in the Carabao Cup – with Ruud at the helm.
