Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was asked about his plans to stop Manchester United in his pre-match press conference.
United travel to the south coast on Sunday to face the Austrian’s Saints side, who are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches.
Hasenhuttl made it clear he feels his side can hurt United and has been pleased with what he’s seen in terms of their attacking patterns in recent weeks.
The Saints haven’t beaten United at home since 2003, which is a record Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to extend this weekend.
“When you see them playing in the Champions League, also in the Premier League last time, it was definitely good, committed, with a lot of quality.
“The guys up front can always hurt you. We have experience in the last game against them; we played a fantastic game but there were two moments when we haven’t been very good (at) defending.
“You must be careful, very concentrated. And on the other side do what we can do very well. With the ball we are getting better and better. Also, hurt them a little bit with your possession.”
Southampton overran United at Old Trafford in July, earning a 2-2 draw late on.
They will be able to exploit any tired United legs, or any complacency after a run of three wins either side of the international break.
The Saints do play with a high line, which Tottenham exploited in September, and United have the pace to do similar on the counter attack.
Winning on Sunday would be very important in terms of sustaining the current momentum.
But there’s no doubt Hasenhuttl has assembled a side which will give United a real game.
