Manchester United will play their most important game of the season when they travel to Lyon in Europa League and a star could be born if things fall right.
Ruben Amorim hasn’t been shy about giving academy youngsters their debut lately as the team becomes more confident in his system.
Being introduced in a stable environment has already done wonders for the likes of Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Ayden Heaven.

Another name could soon be added to the list as Amorim has called up arguably the most exciting United youngster in the academy to first-team training ahead of the game amid reports of an imminent debut.

Jack Moorhouse in Man Utd first-team training
For starters, it is worth noting that being called up to first-team training doesn’t automatically imply that the player will even make the squad, let alone play.
However, Jack Moorhouse’s case is slightly different due to a number of reasons that should fill Man Utd fans with optimism.
For starters, it was recently reported that Moorhouse is close to a Man Utd debut so his being spotted in first-team training could be a natural follow-up of events.
Secondly, at 19, Moorhouse is on the older side for an academy product aiming to break through without a loan spell, especially after his injury worries.
If the staff trusts him, they might look to throw him in at the deep end and ask him to swim instead of playing the loan game because he’s already lost precious developmental time due to injuries.
Lastly, and most importantly, Moorhouse’s skill set fits perfectly into what Man Utd need in the middle of the park. There’s a reason why he’s dubbed ‘Paul Pogba 2.0’.
Moorhouse has ideal skill set for Ruben Amorim
It helps that Moorhouse is 19 in a way because he’s more physically developed, something which held back Harry Amass to a certain point.
However, the biggest thing working in his favour is that his skill set of elite ball-carrying in midfield is right in line with what Amorim demands.
Currently, Amorim seems to have fallen in love with playing both Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in the middle for their defensive solidity.
While they have given United that, it comes at the cost of ball progression and goal threat, an area where United are tragically bad as it is.
They need a player who can take the ball and scramble defenses by running at them, also able to release it at the perfect time to take advantage of that scrambled defense.
Moorhouse has exactly that skill set and with loan inquiries already pouring in for him, Amorim might use the biggest platform for the club this season to give him his first minutes and hammer home the faith the club has in his abilities.
