Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville admitted that he felt that United “deserved” their 3-2 victory after almost throwing away the match in the second half.
“Manchester United’s best period in the game was after they scored their goal,” he said.
“In the end, I think they deserved to win the game.”
Roy Keane said that his former Man Utd teammate was right with his assessment of the match and the proof was in the pudding with the Red Devils’ win on the night.
“I agree with Nev, I think Manchester United just about deserved the win,” he explained.
“We’ve seen the best and the worst of them, but the game is about winning.”

Keane explained that the Red Devils’ woes early in the second half were “self-inflicted” after the mistakes from both Amad Diallo and Senne Lammens.
“Huge win,” he said.
“You try to look at the positives. They’ve scored three goals, were a huge goal threat and they won the game.
“Some mistakes they made in the second half were self-inflicted and gave Liverpool some encouragement.”
Amad Diallo was at fault in the counterattack that led to Dominik Szoboszlai scoring, while Senne Lammens’ howler allowed Cody Gakpo to find the back of the net.
