Paul Scholes dropped his immediate verdict on Manchester United’s clash with West Ham after Benjamin Sesko came to the Red Devils’ rescue on Tuesday evening.
Benjamin Sesko was subbed on in the second half at the London Stadium after Michael Carrick withdrew Matheus Cunha in the 69th minute of the clash.

Should Sesko be starting more games for United?
The 22-year-old Manchester United summer signing made another major impact for interim head coach Michael Carrick in the dying stages of the Premier League match.
The Red Devils were left chasing a 1-0 scoreline in the second half after Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock for West Ham against Man Utd in Tuesday’s encounter.
But Sesko perfectly timed his run and the Slovenian forward fired a first-time stunning volley into the back of the net from a Bryan Mbeumo cross in injury time.

Paul Scholes’ feelings on West Ham and Man Utd after the 1-1 Premier League result
Benjamin Sesko has been dropped to the bench under Michael Carrick, who has preferred to deploy Bryan Mbeumo as the lone forward in his attacking set-up.
However, the Slovenia international has been seizing the opportunity when he has come off the bench, including scoring Man Utd’s winner against Fulham this month.
Sesko’s impact allowed United legend Carrick to narrowly escape the first Premier League defeat in his interim head coach reign since his return to the club in January.
What did Michael Carrick get right with his game management vs West Ham?
Speaking on TNT Sports, Paul Scholes admitted that he felt that relegation-threatened West Ham put in a “perfect” performance in regular playing time.
“I think West Ham were perfect for 90 minutes,” he said, as per BBC Sport.
“Perfect for 90, 92 minutes, but Manchester United kept going right to the death and that’s what they have got under Michael Carrick.”
Paul Scholes’ verdict on what he saw from Benjamin Sesko in Man Utd’s performance against West Ham
Sesko has netted six times and registered one assist in 22 matches across all competitions for United since his 2025 summer move from German side RB Leipzig.
Scholes might have felt that United did not deserve their equaliser against West Ham, but he was full of praise for Sesko’s ruthless finishing in injury time.
“I don’t think they deserved a goal, but the finish was brilliant,” he added.
Carrick has not started Sesko in any of his opening five Premier League matches as interim head coach after replacing Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout.
