Ben Foster has singled out Manchester United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo after the Cameroon international’s impact in the Tottenham match on Saturday afternoon.
Bryan Mbeumo has been central to Michael Carrick’s plans and the 26-year-old Manchester United attacker has been the preferred pick to lead the frontline.
10 goals already… how many will Bryan Mbeumo end up with this season?
The former Brentford ace has been a standout performer at Old Trafford this season and Mbeumo made his presence felt in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over 10-man Tottenham.
Bruno Fernandes played out a United corner towards the near post of the Spurs net and an onrushing Kobbie Mainoo was the first to reach the ball from the set-piece.
Kobbie Mainoo immediately played a superb first-time pass towards the edge of the Tottenham box and Mbeumo produced a superb finish to open the scoring.

Bryan Mbeumo expertly buried the ball into the bottom right corner of the Spurs net, with an outstretched Guglielmo Vicario unable to deny his strike on Saturday.
Manchester United’s well-orchestrated set-piece against Tottenham was widely praised after the Red Devils chalked up their fourth win under Michael Carrick.
Ben Foster was in awe at the technique that Mbeumo produced for his first-half opener and he felt the United ace “meant” every moment of his superb effort.
Which front four should Michael Carrick pick vs West Ham?
“What a lovely finish, though, by the way,” he said on the Fozcast podcast.
“He’s meant to stroke that, like you wouldn’t believe. He’s taking all the pace off it, right?
“And he’s just pressing it into the corner. Honestly, contact [is] everything.”
Foster added: “They [Man Utd] have been brilliant.”
Ben Foster’s reaction to Tottenham during Man Utd’s corner-kick at Old Trafford
Mbeumo was unmarked and had time to pull off his effort after Kobbie Mainoo picked him out from the Bruno Fernandes corner kick in Saturday’s 2-0 result.
Foster was left baffled by the lack of urgency from 10-man Tottenham in trying to stop Mbeumo from having the space that he did in Man Utd’s win on the day.
Michael Carrick is just another Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with better players: __ % AGREE
Fill in the blank. Is Carrick actually a better coach, or are we falling for the same trap again?
“Nobody’s flinging out there to try and embarrass him,” he said.
“You know all your tactics, alright? And you’re looking at the opposition, you see how they set up for tactics.
“They say it’s how they set up for corners, four and again. And you can do a load of work around what that looks like.
“But in the game, still, stuff changes, doesn’t it? You might go down to 10 men. Somebody might have a little injury, so you have to cover for it.
“You do that and you smell it and you have to go right, make sure somebody’s ringing the box, basically. You have to have somebody ringing the 18-yard box.”
Mbeumo has netted 10 times and registered one assist in 21 matches across all competitions in his debut season at Man Utd.
