Rio Ferdinand is wrong for wanting Man Utd to walk back on major call as he is missing biggest point of all

Rio Ferdinand is already thinking with his heart instead of his head after suggesting Manchester United should make a U-turn on one key decision already made.

The 47-year-old former TNT Sports pundit reacted in the aftermath of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over 10-man Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Prove us wrong… Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes are the best midfield trio in the Premier League

There is not another trio we would swap them for!

The Red Devils chalked up their fourth consecutive Premier League victory under Michael Carrick, who is serving as interim head coach until the end of the season.

Man Utd took the lead over Tottenham in the first half after Bryan Mbeumo netted from a Red Devils corner-kick that caught Spurs out by complete surprise.

The Red Devils inflicted the killing blow to Spurs late in the second half after Bruno Fernandes scored from close range following a superb Diogo Dalot cross.

Rio Ferdinand’s reaction to Casemiro’s Man Utd performance against Tottenham raises an unnecessary conversation

Casemiro produced another strong showing under Michael Carrick and the 33-year-old midfielder saw out 87 minutes of Manchester United’s win over Tottenham.

The former Real Madrid star has remained a crucial United first-team player in the post-Ruben Amorim era of the Premier League club and still looks in his element.

Casemiro has been Carrick’s preferred midfield partner for Kobbie Mainoo, who has been undergoing a career resurgence under the 44-year-old Red Devils interim boss.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand insisted that United should consider walking back on the decision to let Casemiro leave in the summer.

Casemiro has forced Jamie Carragher into publicly acknowledging his criticism was wrong…

Should Carragher go further and issue a direct apology to Casemiro for his comments?

“Casemiro… the game left him, he’s meant to leave the game before the game left him,” he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents.

“Listen, where’s he going? He needs to sign a new deal. We need to get on to him now, Casemiro, get him another contract and say, ‘You know what, give us another year.’

“Because we’re going to have to go out and replace that and the way he’s performing at the moment, we’re going to have to spend a lot of money to go and replace Casemiro the way he’s performing under Michael Carrick.

“The reports are that that’s an area they’re going to look into in the summer and I hope they do that, and they’re diligent in their research and their recruitment.”

Rio Ferdinand needs to accept that Casemiro has to leave Man Utd in the summer

The news of Casemiro’s eventual exit from Man Utd was announced in January after the five-time Champions League winner entered the final six months of his deal.

United had the option to trigger Casemiro’s 12-month extension, but the Red Devils ultimately decided against keeping the Brazil international at Old Trafford.

Despite Casemiro’s importance to Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim and even Carrick, the time has come for the Red Devils midfielder to make the next step in his career.

United already have to contend with Casemiro’s hefty wages, not to mention that the former Los Blancos ace is not getting any younger as time passes.

The Red Devils are in need of an overhaul of their midfield and United need to splash out on a long-term solution rather than a short-term fix with Casemiro.

Casemiro has proven many wrong with his career resurgence, especially Jamie Carragher, but Ferdinand’s solution is a step backwards rather than one foot forward

If Casemiro were in his prime, this would not be a topic of conversation. However, the Man Utd midfielder is not in his prime and Father Time waits for nobody.

It is the right time for not only Casemiro to end his Old Trafford playing spell on a high note, but also for the Red Devils to build forward towards a new future.
