Manchester United needed everybody to dig in during a tricky away game against Sheffield United on Saturday night.

Fortunately, Sofyan Amrabat was up for the fight, winning 100 per cent of the nine duels he competed on the ground and in the air.

Matchwinner Diogo Dalot described him as a ‘beast’, lauding his commitment, while he also showed remarkable composure on the ball.

Amrabat almost won the game for United himself, when his piledriver of a shot crashed back off the woodwork, for the second time since he joined the club.

Sofyan Amrabat settling in at Manchester United

One thing to bear in mind is that Sofyan Amrabat is only on loan, and he is playing for the right to stay here next season, with Manchester United able to choose whether to pay to sign him permanently.

This means Amrabat feels like he is playing for his future each chance he gets, and you can see it with his committed displays.

Manchester United’s midfield has been a work in progress all season. Casemiro’s injury has provided another disruption, but United fans are just glad to see Amrabat in there, and not stuck out covering at left-back.

The balance in the first half at Bramall Lane wasn’t quite right, United were poor, and Amrabat was a big part of turning that around after the break.

Amrabat dropped deeper to link with the defence and saw more possession early, and he was helped a lot by Christian Eriksen’s 62nd minute introduction, with United gaining better control, and going on to win 2-1.

He is certainly proving to be a valuable player, and Amrabat has a real chance to start next weekend’s derby.

Manchester United fans praise Amrabat

Manchester United fans are liking Sofyan Amrabat’s contribution at the club so far, and took to social media to praise the Moroccan.

One fan wrote: “Amrabat played in Casemiros position and did better than Casemiro has all season.”

Another added: “I was impressed with Amrabat and his work rate, he will get better in time”

One comment read: “Amrabat has been so good,” while another fan wrote: “Amrabat standout second half player of the match.”

A further message read: “Amrabat played well in the second half. He is a very good player.”

With just a handful of Manchester United appearances under his belt, and even fewer in his preferred midfield position, it has been a positive start for the midfielder.
