A former Manchester United first-team player who was offloaded from Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim has now touched on his spell at the Red Devils.
Ruben Amorim has been overhauling the Manchester United first-team squad that he inherited from Erik ten Hag after his arrival from Sporting CP last November.
The 40-year-old United manager saw early additions to his Red Devils side back in the January transfer window with the signings of Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.
But the Red Devils reinforced heavily under Ineos in the summer transfer window and welcomed the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to Amorim’s squad.
United also had a summer clearout and several players were either sold or loaned out, including Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.

Real Betis star Antony shares what nobody at Man Utd did to him before his summer transfer exit from Old Trafford
Antony’s loan spell at Real Betis for the second half of the 2024-25 season ended in June and the 25-year-old Brazil international returned to Old Trafford in July.
However, the former Manchester United winger was deemed surplus to requirements and Ruben Amorim had no further plans for Antony at the club.
Antony was frozen out of the United first team and was not included in the Premier League club’s pre-season tour in the summer ahead of his exit from Old Trafford.
Speaking to ESPN Brazil, the Real Betis star has suggested that “no-one” would even say morning or afternoon to him when they saw him at United in the summer.
“Look, I’m not the kind of guy who gets involved in controversies, who names people; in fact, I won’t mention anyone’s name here,” he said.
“But I think there was a bit of a lack of respect there, even a bit of rudeness too, with no-one giving you a good morning, a good afternoon.
“Not even that. But, anyway, that’s in the past; I won’t give much importance to these things.
“Now I’m here, at Betis, I’m living here, that’s the most important thing for me.”
Antony sets the record straight over his disappointing spell at Man Utd before his 2025 permanent transfer to Real Betis
Real Betis handed Antony a lifeline in the summer and the Spanish club signed the out-of-favour former United winger on deadline day in September.
Antony impressed during his stunning loan spell at Betis last season and the La Liga club parted ways with an initial transfer fee of £19.06m to sign him from United.
Betis’ summer signing has now suggested that he is accountable for his spell at United and even his difficulty at Old Trafford was part of his development process.
“I am a man who accepts my responsibilities,” Antony explained.
“I think off-field matters affected me a lot in my performance. I know my potential, I know my qualities, I didn’t play in a World Cup for nothing, I didn’t return to the national team for nothing.
“I also take responsibility for it not working out, for not performing as I wanted.
“But I always try to see the bright side of things; going through this entire process, this time at United, was necessary to see myself.”
United’s sale of Antony to Betis included a 50 per cent sell-on clause and an additional £2.59m in payments through add-ons if they are achieved.
