Joshua Zirkzee has found himself as a major talking point for Manchester United fans after the Red Devils’ dramatic 3-2 Premier League win against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were lively in the first half at Old Trafford and the Red Devils put Burnley on the back foot with their attacking threat in Saturday’s Premier League tie.

Ruben Amorim watched from the Old Trafford technical dugout as United took the lead in the 27th minute, with a Josh Cullen deflection beating Martin Dubravka.

United took a 1-0 lead into half-time over Burnley on Saturday afternoon, despite the Red Devils missing more than one chance to extend their advantage in the tie.

Lyle Foster found an equaliser for Burnley in the 55th minute before Bryan Mbeumo made his impact on the match by putting United 2-1 up in the 57th minute.

Altay Bayindir spilt a shot from Loum Tchaouna and Jaidon Anthony pounced on the opportunity and squeezed his equaliser past the error-prone United shot-stopper.

Man Utd fans have sent a clear-cut message about Joshua Zirkzee after the late win over Burnley in the Premier League

Manchester United sealed their victory over Burnley deep into injury time on Saturday, with Bruno Fernandes stepping up and converting a penalty.

Joshua Zirkzee climbed off the bench in the first half after Ruben Amorim was forced to make a tactical change, with Matheus Cunha coming off the pitch due to injury.

The 24-year-old Netherlands international did impress with his link-up play again, but United fans were left deeply frustrated by his shooting efforts against Burnley.

One Red Devils supporter simply suggested: “Somebody put Zirkzee on shooting drills.”

“Zirkzee needs to practice his shooting,” somebody else added.

A third United fan tweeted: “Their shooting abilities are concerning. Zirkzee has [zero] power in shooting.”

While a fourth X user posted: “Zirkzee should work on shooting level shots; if only his shots [didn’t] fly high, they would be accurate.”

Someone else asked: “Why did we sign a forward who can’t strike through the ball properly? You’d struggle to see an attacker with a worse shooting technique than Zirkzee.”

“Stop giving Zirkzee [the] ball in a shooting position. He can’t shoot, FFS,” a sixth said.

Another said: “Never seen a striker with [worse] shooting skills than Zirkzee.”

And an eighth wrote: “Zirkzee with [the] lazy shooting.”

Joshua Zirkzee’s shooting as a striker is still a serious concern for Man Utd amid the 2025-26 Premier League season

Zirkzee disappointed in his debut season at Old Trafford and the United and Netherlands striker only scored seven times in 49 matches across all competitions.

The Dutch forward has shown his other qualities, especially his link-up play in attack, but Zirkzee’s struggles in the final third as a United striker still remain a big concern.

Zirkzee was linked with a move away from Old Trafford and had attracted interest from Italy this summer, but the Netherlands international has remained at United.

With the arrival of Benjamin Sesko this summer and Rasmus Hojlund’s soon-to-be departure to Napoli, Zirkzee could be called upon to make more of an impact.

United will not return to Premier League action until after the September international break, with the Red Devils facing Manchester City at the Etihad.
