Furious Manchester United fans dropped a damning verdict on Bruno Fernandes after the Red Devils’ 1-0 Premier League defeat to Tottenham on Sunday evening.
James Maddison was the difference-maker on the day and the 28-year-old Spurs attacking midfielder broke the deadlock inside the opening 15 minutes.
Spurs’ victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has now allowed Ange Postecoglou’s men to leapfrog Manchester United in the Premier League table.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have moved to 12th place, with Ruben Amorim’s men now dropping to 15th place amid their disastrous Premier League campaign.
United have won only eight of their 25 league matches in the 2024-25 season and the Red Devils are 12 points clear of the relegation zone.
Ruben Amorim’s side now face an uphill battle climbing back into the top half of the Premier League table, with United 15th points adrift from the top four.
Bruno Fernandes started the Spurs match in the middle of the park alongside Casemiro after United manager Amorim was left short of options due to injuries.
The 30-year-old United captain struggled to exert his influence and had very little impact, but Fernandes saw out the full 90 minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 defeat.

Man Utd fans react to Fernandes’ performance
Manchester United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, ruthlessly tore into Bruno Fernandes’ lacklustre display against Tottenham.
Red Devils supporters claimed it was “frustrating” to watch the United and Portugal midfielder in action and said that he had been “terrible” on the pitch.
But other United fans pulled no punches towards Fernandes over his passing and lost possession of the ball, including calling him out for his “Hollywood crosses.”
“This Bruno Fernandes performance is disgraceful, to say the least,” one fan said.
Someone else commented: “It’s also time to talk about Bruno Fernandes’ poor decision-making; man just sprays passes forward without caring to think if there is a player in a position to get the pass.”
“We have to talk about these Bruno Fernandes long ball passes, man,” another added.
A fourth X user wrote: “Can we talk about Bruno Fernandes today? Bro keeps losing the ball. Trying Hollywood crosses. Just keep the ball, bro.”
While a fifth tweeted: “Bruno, man! He is a frustrating watch! So wasteful with his passing and creates so many issues for the team!”
“Bruno Fernandes has been nothing short of terrible all [match] long,” somebody else posted.
And a seventh claimed: “Bruno Fernandes lost the ball in like [five] situations where Tottenham countered and could easily have scored.”
An eighth fan simply added: “Bruno’s passing today was shocking.”
Amorim reacts to Fernandes vs Tottenham
United will now resume their Premier League campaign on 22nd February against David Moyes’ Everton side at Goodison Park.
Speaking after the Tottenham match, Ruben Amorim touched on what he saw from Fernandes and the difficulties United faced at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“Sometimes you want Bruno [Fernandes] to reach the ball in the build-up because he’s really good [at] switching the play,” he told Sky Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“But then you want Bruno also to press and it’s really hard. And when you are changing all the time to get the players to react to the base, it’s really hard.
“4-4-2 in the low block is harder to play against this team than what we did today, that’s my opinion. They are so open and stretch the team.
“What you see guys and what you discuss every week, I also see. I have a lot of problems, my job is so, so hard here. But I stick with my beliefs.”
