Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha were major focuses for Manchester United fans after Michael Carrick’s men had their Premier League showdown with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Matheus Cunha fired Manchester United into the lead over Liverpool in only the sixth minute after Alexis Mac Allister’s deflection turned the ball past Freddie Woodman.

Freddie Woodman subsequently pushed Bruno Fernandes’ header onto Benjamin Sesko, with the ball bouncing off the striker before landing in the back of the net.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo pulled Liverpool level early in the second half against United, but Kobbie Mainoo fired the Red Devils back into the lead.

Michael Carrick now has only three Premier League matches left in his interim United head coach reign before the end of the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.

The 44-year-old United legend played a key role in sparking United’s challenge for a top-four spot after the Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim from his role in January.

Michael Carrick’s transformative impact at Old Trafford in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign has seen the Red Devils legend tipped for the permanent role.

Man Utd will now return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, with the Red Devils visiting the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland.
