Manchester United fans wasted no time reacting after Amad Diallo’s sensational second-half cameo display in the Europa League semi-final tie against Athletic Club.
The Red Devils have punched their ticket to the 2025 Europa League final after Manchester United came from behind to beat Athletic Club 4-1 at Old Trafford.
United defeated 10-man Athletic Club in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals at the La Liga club’s San Mames Stadium in Bilbao last Thursday.
Ruben Amorim’s men welcomed the La Liga club to Old Trafford on Thursday evening and Athletic Club stunned United in the first half of the second-leg tie.
United were 3-0 up against Athletic Club on the aggregate scoreline and Mikel Jauregizar opened the scoring in the first half at Old Trafford with a superb strike.
However, the Red Devils rallied back in the second half and United found the crucial equaliser in the 72nd minute after Mason Mount scored from a stunning effort.
Casemiro then fired United into the lead only seven minutes later before Amad Diallo set up Rasmus Hojlund for the Red Devils’ third of the second-leg Europa League tie.
Mason Mount completed his stunning United cameo performance in injury time after the former Chelsea and England ace completed his brace with his superb second.

What Man Utd fans were saying about Amad Diallo’s display after the 4-1 Europa League win over Athletic Club at Old Trafford
Amad Diallo has been easing himself back into the Manchester United first-team squad after the 22-year-old Ivorian winger made his return from injury.
United manager Ruben Amorim has been managing the Red Devils star’s minutes and Amad showed exactly what his side have been missing on Thursday evening.
Amad replaced Alejandro Garnacho in the 63rd minute at Old Trafford and the Ivory Coast international was lively in the attacking threat after he came on the pitch.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, hailed the transformative impact that Amad had against Athletic Club in the 4-1 win.
One Red Devils supporter wrote: “Amad has to rank some place close to the top in world football [right now] when it comes to 1 v 1s. Absolutely terrific guy.”
“Amad, no-one comes close. He came in and changed everything,” another United fan said.
A third X user tweeted: “The difference Amad made from his very first touch. Massive player. Need to get him fully fit for the final.”
Somebody else posted: “I seriously had doubts in my mind after that first half, but Amad is such a game-changer, ain’t he? I just hope he stays at my club for a long time.”
While a fifth added: “Amad Diallo – IMPACT [sic]. Brought in flair and speed to the team. Good thing Garna was subbed.”
“Amad is a star…. that boy isn’t a fluke,” a sixth argued.
Another Red Devils fan suggested: “A fit Amad is very dangerous. This boy changed the GAME.”
Somebody else claimed: “It shows certain players suit his system like Mount and Amad. They need to be fit for the final.”
Ruben Amorim on Man Utd’s performance vs Athletic Club and reaching the 2025 Europa League final
Amorim admitted that United have had a “tough season” and they have impressed in Europe, despite their difficulties in their 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
“It’s the least we can do for these fans, for the support they have given us in this tough season,” he told TNT Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“I’m stressed already because of the final. If we don’t do it, it means nothing, but we’re happy to be there, so let’s see.
“I know I should be a better manager and the team should be better at this moment, but we’re trying.
“We did quite well in Europe, but we are struggling in the Premier League.”
United will now meet Premier League rivals Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21st May at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, with kick-off planned for 8pm UK time.
