Furious Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on Alejandro Garnacho after the winger’s performance against Arsenal in the 2-0 defeat at the Emirates.

Arsenal walked away with all three points after a convincing performance and Ruben Amorim suffered his first defeat as Manchester United manager.

United played out a 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the first half on Wednesday evening before Jurrien Timber broke the deadlock after the break.

Jurrien Timber flicked a header past Andre Onana after connecting with a Declan Rice corner, with United placed on the back foot at the Emirates.

Arsenal extended their lead in the 73rd minute after William Saliba found the back of the net, with United once again showing serious vulnerability from a set piece.

Garnacho disappoints for Man Utd vs Arsenal

Alejandro Garnacho started in one of the two No 10 roles in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation and the Manchester United winger struggled to make an impact.

The 20-year-old Spain-born winger’s mistake led to Arsenal gaining their first corner, which the Gunners capitalised on thanks to Jurrien Timber’s second-half opener.

Garnacho’s disappointing performance was summed up by United manager Amorim pulling him off in the 59th minute and replacing him with Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford failed to bring the influence that Garnacho lacked and his reckless mistake led to the Gunners gaining their second corner that they scored from.

Man Utd fans react to Garnacho vs Arsenal

United have slipped to 11th place in the Premier League table after their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday.

The Red Devils are now seven points adrift from the top four and Amorim’s men face an uphill battle challenging for Champions League football next season.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, pulled no punches towards Garnacho for his performance against Arsenal.

One X user wrote: “Garnacho starting this game today was the only very obvious mistake Amorim made. He was of no value today.”

Another said: “Amorim made a mistake starting the game with likes of [Mason] Mount [and] Garnacho, they made no impact [on] the game.”

A third tweeted: “[First] mistake by Amorim [was] not changing Garnacho at [half-time]; it was inevitable.”

“Garnacho has to sit up fast if he wants to be on board the Amorim project,” somebody else commented.

While a fifth posted: “Amorim should have started Amad in place of Garnacho.”

And a sixth claimed: “[As] important as Garnacho is, I just don’t think he is technically suited for this Amorim outfit.”

“Amorim needs to think about Rashford and Garnacho,” another wrote.

Somebody else said: “Come [on], Amorim, you had no reason to start Garnacho today.”
