Manchester United fans dropped their verdict on Chido Obi-Martin after the player’s display for Ruben Amorim’s men against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils have endured a disastrous 2024-25 Premier League season and Manchester United languish in 15th place ahead of the Brentford match.
Ruben Amorim’s side’s last outing in the Premier League came in April and United snatched a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last Sunday.
Following United’s result against Bournemouth, the Red Devils travelled to Spain and United picked up a major win in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
United comfortably beat 10-man Athletic Club in the Europa League at the San Mames Stadium and the Red Devils secured a 3-0 scoreline on Thursday in Bilbao.
The Europa League run has taken an important precedent for Amorim’s men and the tournament is United’s only hope of ensuring their place in Europe next season.
Amorim could still sign off the 2024-25 campaign with his first major silverware as United manager and the Europa League would also offer Champions League football.

Man Utd fans react to Chido Obi-Martin after the striker’s Premier League display at the Gtech Community Stadium vs Brentford
Ruben Amorim had to rotate his Manchester United first-team squad for the Premier League clash on Sunday and Chido Obi-Martin was deployed to lead the frontline.
Chido Obi came in for struggling United striker Rasmus Hojlund and the Red Devils talent made his history with his first start for the Premier League club.
The United youth academy product has become the youngest player to start a Premier League match for the Red Devils at the age of 17 years and 156 days.
Chido arrived at United in 2024 after he left Arsenal’s youth academy set-up and the Red Devils striker has been securing important first-team minutes this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Brentford match, Amorim said (via BBC Sport): “We need to focus a lot on our young players.
“For me, it is not a massive game for Chido. I know it’s important for Chido, but I don’t want a lot of pressure on Chido.”
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, pointed out that Chido lacked the essential “service” that he needed against Brentford on Sunday.
“Chido is on some graveyard shift. No service,” one Red Devils supporter said.
Another X user wrote: “Someone give Chido Obi some service.”
Somebody else commented: “Chido Obi [is] now witnessing what Rasmus has faced majority of the season… Zero service outside [of] Bruno [Fernandes].”
A fourth United fan tweeted: “We need service to Chido, he will deliver!”
“Chido has gotten no service,” another posted.
While a sixth suggested: “Chido Obi-Martin getting a true taste of what it’s like for current Man Utd strikers… gross lack of service, lack of creativity from midfield. This is why I haven’t put even a little blame on Rasmus Hojlund.”
“Chido didn’t stand a chance today without Bruno,” somebody else argued.
And an eighth added: “Look at Chido going into good spaces but no Bruno to pick him out.”
What happened in the Premier League match between Man Utd and Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium?
United took the lead inside 15 minutes after Mason Mount was picked out by Alejandro Garnacho and the ex-Chelsea and England star scored from close range.
Brentford rallied back in the first half and Thomas Frank’s men pulled themselves level in the 27th minute after Luke Shaw put the ball in the back of his own net.
The Bees stunned United six minutes after the equaliser, with Kevin Schade heading the ball past Altay Bayindir after he latched himself onto Christian Norgaard’s cross.
Brentford took the 2-1 advantage into half time at the Gtech Community Stadium and Amorim’s men also lost Matthijs de Ligt to injury in the first half of the match.
The Bees extended their lead in the 70th minute after Kevin Schade completed his brace before Yoane Wissa put Thomas Frank’s side 4-1 up four minutes later.
Alejandro Garnacho netted in the 82nd minute and Amad Diallo scored in the 95th minute, but the Red Devils suffered a 4-3 defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium.
United will now resume their crucial 2024-25 Europa League run on Thursday evening, with the Red Devils hosting Athletic Club for the second-leg semi-final tie.
Kick-off for the Europa League showdown is at 8pm UK time at Old Trafford and the Red Devils hold a 3-0 advantage on the aggregate scoreline from the first-leg result.
United or Athletic Club will face either fellow semi-finalists Bodo/Glimt or Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21st May at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
