Manchester United enjoyed a brilliant first half against Chelsea before seeing out the win in the second, but one player had the opposite experience.
Robert Sanchez’s moment of madness soon after kick-off ensured Man Utd had an easy ride for the first 45 minutes when they scored twice.
However, Casemiro’s sending off levelled the personnel on both sides, and a goal from Chelsea ensured United saw out a needlessly nervy 2-1 win.
Common sense dictates that the first-half display far outshone the second from United’s POV, but one player had the opposite problem.

Altay Bayindir makes Chelsea admission
The inclusion of Altay Bayindir puzzled Man Utd fans before the game because the Turkish shot-stopper has been extremely error-prone.
Bayindir’s bad game against Man City made it a no-brainer for Senne Lammens to receive his debut, but Ruben Amorim persisted with the more experienced option.
He had a nervy moment or two against Chelsea, but was otherwise largely untested and up to the challenge on the few occasions he was called into action.
All those occasions came in the second half, which, from his perspective, made his first half even more difficult.
He said: “First 45 minutes, I can say, it was more difficult for me, because, when you don’t have any [outfield] position, you are getting cold. Also, in this weather, it’s raining, so you have to keep your mind focused for every second because in the game, everything can happen, and I did this.”
Ruben Amorim will likely stick with Bayindir
Bayindir’s selection vs Chelsea and Man City could have been written as Amorim saving Lammens’ introduction for slightly lesser profile matches.
However, now that Bayindir has had a mostly error-free display against Chelsea, the Man Utd manager is unlikely to rock the boat against Brentford.
It’s clear that the No. 1 position is Bayindir’s to lose, and that can happen only if he makes howlers on a weekly basis for a stretch of games.
He was doing that before Lammens arrived, which is why Andre Onana played against Grimsby, but Bayindir’s record since Lammens arrived reads one good and one bad game.
Expect Lammens’ wait for a Man Utd debut to continue past the international break, unless a Bayindir howler against Brentford forces Amorim’s hand vs Sunderland.
