Manchester United beat Fulham in the Premier League, with Lisandro Martinez grabbing the only goal of the game.
It was a rather droll Premier League fixture on Sunday evening, with few Manchester United players really standing out against the Cottagers.
Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike gave Manchester United all three points, but Toby Collyer was also to thank for his goal-line clearance in the dying embers.
Whilst there was little to shout about, a man becoming one of Ruben Amorim’s favourites at Old Trafford once again had an extremely solid outing.

Harry Maguire once again superb for Manchester United
Harry Maguire, as always lately aside from his Southampton shocker, was solid as a rock for Manchester United. Every ball, player and challenge that came his way – he dealt with.
The man mountain made sure that a usually hard-to-deal-with striker in Raul Jimenez had an extremely quiet day.
Considering Maguire’s future was deemed uncertain in the summer with Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt coming in, Maguire now looks like the first name on the team sheet under Amorim. He’s untouchable at the moment.
Credit where credit is due, his attitude has been fantastic, and now he’s letting his football do the talking. Exactly what you want in a Manchester United player.
Maguire’s game by numbers against Fulham
Martinez was awarded man of the match by TNT Sports, but Maguire definitely pushed him to the wire – as reflected in his stats on the day.
| Statistic | |
| Accurate passes | 56/58 (97%) |
| Clearances | 6 |
| Headed Clearance | 5 |
| Interceptions | 2 |
| Defensive Actions | 11 |
| Recoveries | 3 |
| Dribbled Past | 0 |
| Duels Won | 6 |
| Duels Lost | 3 |
| Ground Duels Won | 3/3 (100%) |
| Aerial Duels Won | 3/6 (50%) |
| Was Fouled | 0 |
| Fouls Committed | 0 |
Maguire, Martinez and De Ligt are looking like the trio Amorim is happy using moving forward, which many won’t have predicted.
The fact that Maguire is probably the one that dwarves the other two is also entirely surprising. We’re not complaining, well in Harry.
