Manchester United comfortably dispatched FCSB on Thursday night to claim a top-eight Europa League league phase finish.
It was a result many would have predicted, yet with FCSB also holding hopes of the top eight before kick-off, Manchester United will have expected a tough match.
Instead, FC Steaua Bucuresti sat with 11 players in their box, handing United a comfortable 2-0 win, which saw the visitors hold 70 per cent of possession and create eight big chances – missing seven.
FCSB came up against the very best Kobbie Mainoo we have seen since last May’s FA Cup triumph, with the 19-year-old joining Wayne Rooney in the history books.
Alejandro Garnacho also played a big role in putting the Bucharest outfit to the sword – but it was a scoreline many thought FCSB would see as respectable.
However, post-game their owner revealed he has received the result drastically different after Amorim coached United to a dominant win.

Gigi Becali full of rage after FCSB showing against Manchester United
Despite a strong defensive showing, after the game FCSB owner Gigi Becali unleashed his fury over his team’s performance.
In an article, Sport in Romania revealed Begali had walked out of the match prior to full-time – with his fury clear to see as they quoted him.
“They played with three on the backline but were only with the defenders in the centre of the pitch. Unfortunately, we cannot beat such teams. I convinced myself tonight. I swear I can’t beat them. I feel helpless. And I don’t like being helpless.
“Football is about playing football and having possession. You don’t have possession and the ball is only with the opponent, that’s not football.”
Sport also shared further quotes from the enraged owner, in which he admitted feeling ‘helpless’.
“In the life of your lives, as long as I am at football, you will not see five defenders! Never! When you get into the situation of playing with Manchester, you have to leave the specialists there… Especially since Charalambous is friends with a coach from England. Charalambous was his very second. He received information. They thought of a game strategy. I do not claim to be an expert. I don’t want football like that.
“If we didn’t play with five in defence, maybe we would have scored even more goals! But I never play five in defence again. I don’t play anymore! Well, what are they? Punching bag? I want to watch football, I want to play football. I’m not interested in being a punching bag. We also played with City, we got four, but we weren’t a punching bag!
“I congratulate them for the fight, for the dedication. But one is one, another is another. With five on my ass, I won’t play anymore even if we meet the world team! I do other pressing in another system. I can also tie three passes. Here, who will score against United? Birligea and Tanase? How? In a two-man attack?”
Who is FCSB owner Gigi Becali?
This would not be the first instance of FCSB’s owner being outspoken – as he is quite the character and makes Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos look like angels.
Becali is a former Romanian parliament member, where he served as a member of the chamber of deputies, also served in the European Parliament for Romania and all while being president of the New Generation Party.
The 66-year-old Becali is however best known for his role as FCSB owner, he made his fortune after a land exchange with the Romanian army.
Becali first became a shareholder at the club in the late 1990s and he gradually bought up shares until he became the majority shareholder in 2003.
He has often been slammed in the country for interfering with his manager’s work and often decides the starting line-up, claiming to GSP in 2010 that the players are bought with his money so he is justified.
The politician and businessman has a controversial past, to say the least, in his ownership of FCSB, and United have got a special glimpse into the character he is.
